Q1 2018 Newsletter - Message from the President
I hope 2018 is starting out well for everyone.
This year I’m happy to announce that we have been busy on your behalf working on new and groundbreaking initiatives. When we started FY 2017-18 we set our sights on breaking boundaries and becoming more accessible to our members. As of this month, we have been able to produce 5 podcasts with amazing guests discussing issues that addresses current issues and future technologies. Please take a minute to check it out if you haven’t already:

In terms of breaking boundaries, we have been working with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland spearheaded by their Trade Commissioner, Suvi Aherto. The goal of this partnership is to share best practices in Healthcare Technology and hopefully collaborate on future initiatives. Finland has just been named by the United Nations as 2018 Happiest country (check out this link for more details http://worldhappiness.report) and being healthy is one of the primary reasons. Another first for the Chapter and the State of California, is the HIMSS State Legislator of the Year awarded to California State Senator Ed Hernandez, for the past 3 years we have been working with Sen. Ed on issues facing interoperability and improving healthcare overall from a legislative perspective. Although we toil hard with no expectation of recognition, being awarded and rewarded is not a bad thing ☺
In other news, our CMIO committee chair Dr. Alan Young has been trailblazing a new path for us by representing our Chapter in the Cedar Sinai and Tech Stars collaboration. As you know we have been working hard to get more physician engagement and healthcare entrepreneurs involved in the Chapter. Dr. Young was able to hit two birds with one stone! Look forward to more physician led events in the near future.
There are tons more in the works from the next Ronald McDonald Charity Golf tournament to local mixers and partner events, so please stay tuned!
This year has been amazing because of all the help from the Board, the committees and YOU! So please let us know if there is anything else we can do, to serve you.
