The Southern California chapter of HIMSS is comprised of a dedicated group of IT professionals from different segments of healthcare. The Executive Committee consists of the elected Board Officers. The Board of Directors consists of the Executive Committee along with board committee chairs.

Ian Slade RN, MBA, PMP is a Healthcare Innovator & Advocate. He is passionate about finding ways to do things better, faster, and cheaper without compromising patient outcomes. From the patient bedside to the halls of Capitol Hill, he has advocated for the betterment of patients, clinicians and the industry as a whole. He is currently the Managing Partner of I&T Consulting Group LLC, a healthcare focused solutions firm located in Southern California.

An Emmy-Award winning producer with over twenty years of experience, Jones is co-Founder and CEO of Health Nuts Media.
Jones has overseen numerous health literacy projects for companies and organizations such as Starlight Children’s Foundation, The American Academy of Ophthalmology, University of Texas Medical Branch, The American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, The University of Southern California, The Walt Disney Companyand many more. A graduate of Pepperdine’s MBA program, Jones is co-authorof the top-selling book Foundation Flash Cartoon Animation.
Prior to Health Nuts Media, Jones was COO of Animax Entertainment, a leading digital entertainment agency in Los Angeles, CA. Named to the 2009 list of America’s fastest-growing companies by Inc. Magazine, Animax produced award-winning television shows, virtual worlds, games and branded-entertainment for companies including The Walt Disney Company, MTV, Sesame Street, Kodak, Ty, ESPN and more. Before Animax, Jones worked for companies such as Warner Bros., Disney, Klasky-Csupo and Icebox, the pioneering internet animation company.
Bella Zaghi has been involved with So-Cal HIMSS since she was a student at UCLA. She went to her first conference and got excited as she learned about Health IT, the developments in the field and its potential to improve patient care. Since her first event, she has devoted her time to volunteer for the chapter in various Committee and Board roles, plan and create events, and mentor students as they begin their journey in the Health IT arena. As Chair for the Academic Alliance Conference, she put together a blockbuster event with over 400 attendees ranging from students, professors, providers, policymakers and top leadership from local medical centers/medical groups/health insurance companies.
She then became Chair for the Academic Alliance Community where she expanded student outreach to cover San Diego to Santa Barbara and created the annual Career Roundtable Events. As VP of Administration she has been a key player in covering the administrative tasks for the Chapter that helped So-Cal to be honored with Chapter of the Year. On her current role as President Elect she is looking forward to working with the President and continue expanding and enhancing the chapter to be a valuable resource to the Health IT community locally and globally.
On her free time, Bella enjoys listening to music, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
Karen Kennedy's previous role was with Scripps Health, she now part of the TigerText team with over 10 years of clinical informatics expertise. Karen completed her undergraduate work at University of Medicine & Dentistry (UMDNJ), and her MBA at the University of Phoenix.
Karen started her career as a staff nurse at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ in the pediatric medical surgical and intensive care units. Throughout her career she worked in several healthcare arenas and gained expertise in case management, quality, homecare, hospice, and education. Positions include: Regional Clinical Informaticist, Senior Director of Education & Compliance, Corporate Regional Compliance Specialist, and Continuous Quality Improvement Manager (CQIM). Karen’s informatics background includes project manager during implementation & conversions of EHRs to include: Epic, Cerner, McKesson, Meditech and HMS.
Karen’s current focus is on improved healthcare through information technology (IT). She works closely with executive management teams, analysts and front-line staff to ultimately enhance and optimize technology and informatics tools that help clinicians provide better care and positive health outcomes for patients.
Toon Prasertsit, RN, MBA, PMP
Vice President, Finance/Treasurer
Toon Prasertsit is an experienced IT Healthcare consultant. He is passionate about innovation and finding new ways to improve and manage patient outcomes. Toon brings many years of nursing and clinical knowledge to help deliver on complex healthcare IT projects. His experience includes multiple IT systems implementation, process flow optimization, and project and program management.
Toon has served Southern California HIMSS as the chair of Clinical Informatics and Vice President of Programs. He is a Managing Partner of I&T Consulting Group LLC, a healthcare focused solutions firm located in Southern California.
Vice President, Programs
Geri Pavia is a Strategic Healthcare Client Executive, spending the last twelve years of her career in healthcare with a primary focus on assisting Healthcare Acute Centers implement and execute EMR initiatives. She is a results-oriented individual who understands clinical projects from budgeting and project timeline execution perspectives. As an Enterprise Software Sales Consultant, Business Development, and Strategist, her career has been spent building and leading top-producing partnerships and revenue-generating initiatives within Healthcare. Geri has an acute ability to combine her creative skills in strategic clinical planning, client relations, problem research, team leadership and mentoring within direct and indirect technology-based healthcare environments. She has built a solid network of relationships in the direct hospital networks, healthcare, healthcare provider, biosciences, public sector, and state and local government, and healthcare education (SLED) markets. She has a personal pursuit within the healthcare communities in supporting charities that support children with life-long illness. To this end, she has chaired the Chapter's charity golf tournaments supporting Make-A-Wish® Orange County and the Inland Empire. Geri loves time to walk, run, read and stay healthy by cycling.
Vice President, Advocacy
John is an experienced healthcare IT professional with 20 years' combined technical leadership, product/program management and customer interaction roles. He's had the great fortune to meet and work with countless healthcare organizations across the country through his career in healthcare technology. His broad experience includes formal roles and responsibilities for new product development and solutions consulting while rotating proverbial hats to fill gaps in operations, project management, support, and marketing. More recently John led a strategic program where he catalyzed advancement of a venerable and aging Health IT solution with new capabilities and modern software technologies while leading the commercialization efforts into the cardiovascular marketplace.
John welcomes the opportunity to work with public officials and entities to help shape and convey well-defined, technology centric programs and strategies to facilitate improved quality of life and health of individuals.
Design and detailed oriented by nature, John has extensive experience with healthcare IT standards, complete product life cycle and large-scale, critical uptime solutions. John is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison and is a certified professional in healthcare information & management systems (CPHIMS).

Sarah is one of those people who ‘gets things done’ and has a penchant for bringing out the best in people. With an enthusiastic and genuinely friendly attitude, Sarah radiates a sincere passion for delivering value and benefits to the teams she leads and serves. She has built award-winning teams and has been recognized by The Kansas City Business Journal as a ‘Woman Who Means Business’, a “Next Gen Leader’, and a ‘Rising Star’ by KC Business Magazine.
With a B.S. in Hospitality Administration and a Master’s in Business, Sarah spent six years in the hotel and casino industry in Las Vegas, NV, before making the purposeful decision that she could make a larger impact on more people if she moved into the healthcare industry. Her first 5 years in healthcare began as an IT Administrator at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV, where she then began her ten-year career with HCA (Hospital Corporation of America).
Currently, Sarah serves as the CA Market CIO for DaVita Medical Group in El Segundo, CA. Since 1992, HealthCare Partners has been committed to developing innovative models of healthcare delivery that improve their patients' quality of life while containing healthcare costs. Their strength is in their steadfast commitment to their guiding principle of coordinated care. Their physicians strive daily to bring the benefits of coordinated care to more than 600,000 managed care patients in California, who represent the diversity of cultures, socioeconomic groups, ages, and health statuses in the communities they serve.

Krystal Di Stefano

Krystal Di Stefano is an experienced professional in sales and marketing. Her work experience includes working in various capacities with professional athletes and some of Southern California’s premier professional sports organizations. More recently, she has utilized her skills in the Information Technology field. Krystal is marketing coordinator at T2 Tech. She is responsible for supporting local and national marketing campaigns, brand advancement, social media, public and media relations, preparation of proposals and other business development projects. Prior to joining T2 Tech, Krystal took her first steps into the IT industry working at a prominent staffing and services company, TEKsystems, as a technical recruiter. Krystal graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Mass Communication from Arizona State University.
Alan S. Young, MD, MBA, PMP
Chair, CMIO Committee
Dr. Alan Young is a physician leader with a strong clinical and business background. After completing a dual MD/MBA degree program at USC's Keck School of Medicine and Marshall School of Business, he obtained his medical license during his Orthopedic Surgery residency. He is the current Regional Director of Client Relations for Sagacious Consultants / Accenture in Southern California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Hawaii while also serving as the Southern California HIMSS CMIO Committee Chair. He is currently working on challenging healthcare projects involving clinical transformation, strategy and operations with an emphasis on integrating technology solutions to enhance clinical work flows and impact patient experience. He currently practices medicine in the greater Los Angeles area.

Nish Jain joined as a student volunteer for HIMSS in 2010 when looking for internships while completing his Masters degree in Health Administration (MHA). After graduation he continued to volunteer for HIMSS & the SoCal chapter assisting with Newsletter & Social Media campaigns. Nish also participated in the HIMSS APMI Taskforce & obtained his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from IISE in 2017. He is currently the Principal Software Support Analyst at University of Missouri System leading software & application development projects. His domain includes managing administrative processes within healthcare, research and tech transfer offices , designing and implementing IT tools for the same. He is currently also pursuing a Masters degree in Health Informatics He likes social media marketing, meditation, hiking and biking on trails. He is currently the Co-chair of Marketing & will lead our social media strategies.

Trish MacDonald is a co-chair for the HIMSS SoCal Marketing Committee. In her day-to-day, she is a VP of client services for Black Branch Consulting, a DC-based corporate strategy and business development consulting firm. In this role, she helps health IT vendors grow their Federal sales growth targets, specializing in large health agencies including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Defense Health Agency, and Department of Veterans Affairs. Previously, she worked in public relations and brand marketing for large technology brands such as LG Electronics, Intel and Lenovo.
