Summer 2019 Newsletter - Meet Our Board of Directors and Committee Chairs
Karen P. Kennedy, MBA RN, President
I enjoy being part of HIMSS SoCal because I have a deep appreciation for how Information Technology has helped guide Healthcare Organizations into more advanced, streamline and focused care that ultimately effects patient’s lives every day.
Geri Pavia, President-Elect
I am currently the President-Elect and have been involved with the HIMSS SoCal Chapter for almost ten years, four of those years as the VP of Programs. The SoCal Chapter is made up of many amazing people who are passionate about healthcare and I am grateful to know them. My most rewarding involvement has been with our golf tournaments supporting charities that help families and children with acute or chronic illness.
Bella Zaghi, Immediate Past President
From my first event HIMSS has been pivotal to my life, keeping me up to date with trends in the industry. Also, I’ve met many mentors and developed friendships that have been there when I needed guidance.
Clark Kegley, VP of Finance
I have been involved with the chapter for over 10 years and have found the leadership, committee teams, members, partners and others connected to the chapter to be some of the most impressive professionals in our industry. I have learned much, hopefully contributed a little and enjoyed the networking opportunities associated with our large chapter. I would recommend this organization and this chapter to anyone in our industry.
LeRoy Smith, VP of Administration
Healthcare information technology brings together talented professional that share experience, knowledge, and wisdom. The chapter allows me to advocate for our membership and contribute in their professional growth.
Krystal Di Stefano, VP of Programs
HIMSS has been instrumental in developing my knowledge in healthcare IT and keeping me abreast of the latest HIT initiatives. I’ve enjoyed learning from our local leaders in Southern California. I look forward to giving back and supporting our HIT community through quality programs and events.
Ian Slade, VP of Advocacy
Healthcare Technology is an amazing field that’s changing at lightning speed! SoCal HIMSS allows me to talk to like-minded individuals and make changes in the local, State and National levels.
Alan Young, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) Committee Chair
HIMSS SoCal is important for physicians in the healthcare industry to help bridge the gap between clinical stakeholders and information technology or innovation solutions that will impact patients and change how care is delivered. HIMSS provides a comprehensive resource for education, networking and professional development here in Southern California.
Evan Behm, Sponsorship Committee Chair
My focus is on sponsor relationships and funding for our events. As a nonprofit, our sponsors are crucial in being able to put on the top tier events we offer. I work with our team to ensure sponsors have a point of contact for all their needs and that we are doing everything we can to provide value in return for their support.
Regina Atim, Pharm.D., MBA, Academic Alliance Committee Chair
HIMSS SoCal is important because I find that it supports a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. As a pharmacist it is important to be integrated into the care team and HIMSS provides the forum to effectively achieve this goal.
Len Rosenthal, Marketing & Communications Committee Chair
HIMSS SoCal gives me the unique opportunity to learn best practices, understand latest trends, and get to know leaders, pioneers, innovators, and disrupters who are impacting all areas of health care.
Ernesto Santana, Membership Committee Chair
As the Membership Chair for HIMSS SoCal my role is to enable our members to better connect with the chapter and with each other in our community. I cherish the friendships and relationships I've developed through HIMSS SoCal and I feel privileged to serve in this capacity again. I look forward to a great year ahead. #ChapterOfTheYear2020
Joanne Underwood, Chapter Administrator
I am often the first face you see when arriving at events, or the first person to email you back when you have a question. I’ve been working with the HIMSS SoCal Chapter for 8 years as an independent contractor, assisting with event details, website and email communications, and sponsorship administration. I’ve met many wonderful people, and made lifelong friends, working with this organization of folks who care deeply about healthcare and its advancement through technology.
Please contact anyone on our Board of Directors or our Committee Chairs for information about becoming a volunteer; or let us know how we can help keep our Chapter focused on initiatives that are important and meaningful to you and your organization.
